Artificial Life: An Attempt to Surpass God's Power

The New York Times published an editorial dated May 28, 2010, discussing the procreation of artificial life. The author of the editorial doesn't take a stand for or against the basis of artificial life. However, he states that there are potential pros and cons to the development of artificial life, leaving the reader to decide whether he or she agrees or disagrees with this ingenuity. The article, titled, "Once Cell Forward," states that Craig Venter and other scientists developed a synthetic cell. However, the author of the article disagrees with this development's label, instead calling it a synthetic genome (which is not quiet a cell yet, as Venter described it to be, but a long strand of DNA). This genome will supposedly produce new vaccines, and eventually, hasten the pace of creating artificial life.
